Safety and Ecological Considerations

The Tummy Tub® was developed in cooperation with midwives, nursery nurses, physicians and psychologists. Designed to simulate security of mother’s womb, it would allow the baby to easily settle while bathing. The space inside the Tummy Tub® is limited leaving the baby in a fetal and upright position. This familiar position is assuring and relaxing for the baby.

There are times that a baby would stand inside the tub because the baby is buoyant in the water. The compact tub and walls can support the baby while doing this. Because of the small surface area, the Tummy Tub® keeps the water warm for up to approx. 20 minutes. This gives parents and baby more than enough bath time without leaving baby in an uncomfortable temperature.

There are also features that the parents would appreciate. The Tummy Tub® is lightweight - even when filled with water - and compact, it is quite easy to handle. It has ergonomic hand grips that allow easy moving the tub around with or without water. The anti-skid base and low center gravity to make sure that it is safe and stable for bathing the baby. It makes it possible for the parents to be in a comfortable position whilst bathing their baby.
